In 2009, The Ghost Adventures Crew did an investigation here experiencing: ๐™ค๐™ง๐™—๐™จ..๐™–๐™ฅ๐™ฅ๐™–๐™ง๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™จ..๐™š๐™ซ๐™ฅ.. & ๐™ฅ๐™๐™ฎ๐™จ๐™ž๐™˜๐™–๐™ก ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™–๐™˜๐™ฉ.

โ€ขThe building began as The City Hotel in 1821. A place where wealthy residents gathered, and the visiting rich and famous stayed. It later closed in 1864 without incidents, but never re-opened after Sherman's March to Sea.

โ€ขAfter it's stint as a hotel the building served as a makeshift hospital, and housed Yellow Fever patients during several outbreaks.

โ€ขEstimates report hundreds, mostly children died on the upper-floors of the building during this time.

โ€ขIt sat empty 20 years before Moon River purchased it.

๐—›๐—ฎ๐˜‚๐—ป๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—›๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜†:

โ€ข The famous ghost "Toby", is seen in the basement. (The most active floor.) Toby was seen enough the staff named him! He is known to push, or brush up against people playing in the billiards room.

โ€ข Other basement reports include: bottles that are thrown/fall, sudden temperature drops occur, and people feel touched.

โ€ข Though this can not be backed up with evidence, there are rumors slaved were kept in the basement as well.

โ€ข Floor 2, the main floor/dining area is where James Stark was shot by Phillip Minas in 1832. It has been reported he was shot on the staircase, but some say by the kitchen. Since Stark was not liked around town, and Minas was the town physician (who also claimed Stark reached for a gun first), he was acquitted. Stark is still said to roam the floor today.

โ€ข Diners have been touched while eating, chills felt in the women's restroom, and women have been locked in the stalls.

โ€ข In 1860 a Yankee, James Sinclair checked into The City Hotel. Though the Civil War had not began, the disdain for a Yankee was enough to cause a mob, as he had been asked to leave and refused. Sinclair was stripped and beaten to near death in the street, but survived.

(Think about that on your next leisurely stroll down Bay Street!)

โ€ข The more violent encounters commonly occur on the 3rd and 4th floor. The famous "Woman in White" is seen often as a full body apparition. As the 3rd floor is where many of the children stricken with Yellow Fever passed, children are of heard talking and playing here.

โ€ข 1999 during 3rd floor construction a foreman's wife was pushed down the stairs. He left immediately, and they did not return. This staircase is where many others reported feeling pushed, or pulled.

โ€ข The 4th floor has the darkest presence, those who go up there report an overwhelmingly negative presence. Ironically with the energy, it has the least activity.

In addition to ghosts, Moon River has amazing food and drinks + a great patio! Definitely worth a visit!
